“For the past few years I’ve been running myself into the ground with training. I’ve had a really unhealthy relationship with food for most of my life and in order to compensate for that relationship I took my training to the extreme. I weighed in for my third Ironman last year at 155 pounds. By Christmas I weighed 157 which is the most I’ve ever weighed. I was putting in hours and hours of training in order to get that number down, but it’d never budge. If the number didn’t go down, I would skip meals. I felt like that was the only way I could gain control, but it ended up having the opposite effect. I’d overeat and wake up the next morning feeling guilt and shame. So I’d skip breakfast and lunch. I was stuck in this vicious cycle of eating too much, exercising too much, and then not eating enough. I started working with Betsy in January 2018 and she helped me break this cycle. Food isn’t as scary to me. I’ve learned that in order to honor my body, I need to nourish it and that means eating six times a day. I’ve learned how to pair my foods appropriately. I’ve learned how to handle social gatherings involving food. I’ve learned that I don’t need to count calories and or try extreme diets. Betsy introduced me to a lifestyle change—something I can implement with confidence for the rest of my life. I now sit comfortably between 142-144, and for once in my entire life, I feel satisfied and in control. Even with my splurge meal once a week 🙂 I have lost 15 pounds and feel the best I have ever felt!!! THANK YOU, BETSY”
