“After 16 weeks of physical training and working with Betsy on my nutrition since April 7, it was October 7, 2018 – race day was finally here! I HAD LOST 20 pounds in the process of working with Betsy all the while I was training for my first marathon. After waking up at 5:30 and having my breakfast of 2 slices of Dave’s Killer bread toast, almond butter and a banana, I met my running buddy in the hotel lobby and we were off to the start. A cool rain had settled over the city and was forecasted to be there the majority of the day. We finally crossed the start line and began our 26.2 mile journey through the Windy City. The crowd support in Chicago is unbelievable. It really keeps you going. As I settled into my race, I felt stronger, confident and faster as each mile passed. This was going to be a great race! Pain in my hips and hamstrings settled in around mile 16 but I was not going to let it stop me from running my race. As we got closer and closer to the finish, I felt confident that I was going to finish this race the way I had always wanted it to go. The final turn was up a slight hill and down to the finish line. I was done!! I was a marathoner! And my time was exactly where I wanted it! When I started this process in January I never dreamed it would have ended this way, the way I wanted it to – strong, healthy and confident. A friend of mine told me during this process, “Dream it, then go do it”. And that’s exactly what I did. Working with Betsy over the past five months gave me the confidence to conquer anything I put my mind to! I finished this race and my nutrition journey knowing anything is possible, but I couldn’t have done any of this without my family, my running buddy and Betsy cheering me on every step of the way. Dream it, then go do it! See you next year, Chicago marathon!”
