This week I turned 59 and I feel better and more excited than ever to enter the next decade! For the past 10 years, I have been slowly gaining weight and was 13 to 15 pounds heavier than I was at age 49. It was a slow process of gaining, a pound here a pound there, and then I would lose maybe 2 to 3 pounds but could never keep it off. I had already gone up one size in clothes and now those clothes were getting tight. I was discouraged but also determined to not be forced into having to purchase the next size up. I walked most days and went to my fitness class 2 to 3 days a week on a regular basis until the pandemic. Like most women my age, it was hard to lose weight, and honestly, I did not know a single lady who had been successful.
I received one of Betsy’s emails that had a testimonial about a woman who was 63 and had lost weight and kept it off. With the encouragement of my husband, I contacted Betsy and began to work with her around mid June. With Betsy’s support, accountability, menu and recipe suggestions, I was determined to succeed. At our first meeting, Betsy and I discussed that my goal, based on my age, was 1 LB a week. I told her I would be thrilled if I lost a LB a week and kept it off! I have now lost 15 lbs and have kept all the weight off. I have not been hungry and I feel great! Unfortunately, I did have to purchase a new set of clothes, but it was a size smaller! I am now working with Betsy on my maintenance program. Thank you Betsy for all of your encouragement and inspiration!
