Being a very active runner I never understood the importance of nutrition and how to properly fuel my body. I have run many 5k and 10k races with a handful of half marathons over the years with little to no fuel in my body. When I finally took the leap to do a full marathon this past Fall I struggled with my training. I was of the belief that a carbohydrate is a carbohydrate and I would load up on them before heading out on my long runs. Unfortunately, I was not able to complete those runs strong and I ended up gaining 10 to 12 pounds during my training.
I came across Betsy on social media and decided to reach out to her for help. What an amazing person she has been, in 6 weeks of working with Betsy I learned what good carbohydrates are and how to eat them around my training times. I was able to lose the weight I gained as well as being able to run 16 to 18 miles on my long run days with ease! On October 19, 2019, I crossed the finish line of my first full marathon in 4 hours 30 mins, something I wouldn’t have been able to do without the incredible knowledge and guidance of Betsy.
